The SIOP model - developed by Echevarria, Vogt, and Short - provides a framework of high quality instruction for English Language Learners in content area teaching. Homedale School District has adopted SIOP as a means of organizing teaching methods and techniques and ensuring that effective practices are implemented in every classroom.
Along with in-district training and materials, this site will provide resources for staff members as they implement SIOP across the curriculum. Much of the information on this site is taken from Making Content Comprehensible for English Learners The SIOP Model, copyright 2008 Pearson Education, Inc.
